Selkirk Mountain Music Festival presents PEACE DANCE, Saturday April 20, 7pm – 9:30pm. Join musician Steve Marc, DJ Jazzy Jo and musician Marty Carter for a Peace Dance in The Griff. An All Ages Event.
“Peace is not something you wish for, it is something you make, something you are, something you do and something you give away.” Robert Fulghum
What is a Peace Dance? Peace Dances are performances with intention; the intention of gathering in peace, to spread peace by being and advocating for peace. This world is experiencing a tumultuous time, not only overseas in the warring countries but also right here in our own communities.
Steve Marc brings dancy reggae/calypso grooves and uplifting/healing vibes with a mission to bring out your inner peace and spread it throughout the region and beyond. Steve brings you together to celebrate our interconnectedness, our symbiotic relationships with each other, and our environment through music and dance.
Opening the show, Marty Carter is a singer and multi-instrumentalist (Saxophone, Flute, 12 String Guitar, Keyboards, EWI Electric Wind Instrument) who enjoys Art Rock, Reggae and Blues. He has performed across Western Canada for the last 35 years and loves to co-create spontaneous moments of joy.
Closing the show we have DJ Jazzy Jo, who loves disco, funk, soul and more. From Northern Soul to rare Disco, Jazzy Jo loves it all. Expect an uplifting, funky, danceable set from a vibrant Rossland DJ you might know from her local Dance It Out events and more.
Everyone is welcomed to join. To be is to do. To be peace is to spread peace. Individually, one by one, one dance step at a time; let us be the peace that we want to see and spread it far and wide. Let’s make the world a better place through music and dance together, as one, because we are.
