The Board of Directors of the Nelson Museum, Archives & Gallery is very pleased to announce Jennifer Dunkerson as the new Executive Director, effective November 27, 2023.
Dunkerson has extensive experience in the arts and culture sector in Canada, including as the Executive Director of the Revelstoke Railway Museum, a management role with Columbia Basin Trust, and a heritage planner with Heritage BC. She has also served on the Board of Directors at the Nelson Museum.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Dunkerson as Executive Director,” says Board Chair Sheila Achilles. “Jennifer will continue to guide and support the incredible work of the staff, board, and volunteers, and further advance the mission and vision of the Museum, which has been serving the community for nearly 68 years.”
Dunkerson succeeds Astrid Heyerdahl, who was the Museum’s Executive Director from 2016 to November 2023.
Over the next few years, the Museum will be redeveloping the museum exhibit on the 2nd floor and will continue to grow the Nelson Sports Collection (located at the Civic Arena and the NDCC), expand the regional Archives and Collection, and grow public and education programs.
