Provincial regulations regarding small-scale meat production recently changed. Interest in purchasing locally grown food, including meat, continues to increase. To serve the communities of north Kootenay Lake, LINKS is assessing interest in local meat production and purchasing, and bringing information to past, present and future small-scale meat producers.

The new Farm Gate and Farm Gate Plus provincial licensing are intended to reduce barriers to small-scale meat production. The LINKS survey will help us understand the current state of this sector and determine best steps to support it moving forward. Join us at LVCC in Meadow Creek on April 24, 1 – 4 pm, to learn more about what this could mean for you as a present or future meat producer or as a local meat consumer. Fill out our survey online, or in person at the event, and enter to win a variety pack of meat from Root and Vine Acres.
