Castlegar and District Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development and Destination Castlegar (CDCOC/ED/DC) would like to gain your perspective on the benefits of offering passenger rail service in the Kootenays. A survey has been launched by CDCOC/ED/DC to gather residents’ interest in a passenger rail service.
The online survey can be found here:
www.surveymonkey.com/r/PassengerRailService
“Just over a year ago we lost a vital transportation link with the cancellation of bus service by Greyhound,” said Tammy Verigin-Burk, executive director of Castlegar and District Chamber of Commerce. The survey will help inform CDCOC/ED/DC as to the public interest in passenger rail service
“We recognize that establishing an inter-community passenger link needs to be viewed as a long-term strategy to help improve transportation within our region. As such, this survey is part of a larger research initiative that is being undertaken to explore the feasibility of passenger rail service in the Kootenay Region.” said Verigin-Burk. This project was made possible through a grant received from BC Rural Dividend.
The survey will run until January 23. For more information on this survey, please contact: Tammy Verigin-Burk, 250-365-6313 or cdcoced@castlegar.com
