Melody Diachun returns with her quartet to entertain music lovers on Thursday, February 13 at 2:30 pm in the Muriel Griffiths Room at The Bailey Theatre.
Enjoy an afternoon of tea, a sweet treat and music as Melody Diachun and her acoustic jazz quartet present Sumner’s Tales: The Music of Sting. Sting, born Gordon Sumner, is known as one of the greatest living songwriters, both in his solo career and with the legendary British band, The Police. With countless hits such as Every Breath You Take, Roxanne and Fields of Gold, Sting has sold more than 350 million records and singles worldwide.
Bringing their jazz stylings to the music of Sting are Jazz at the Griff favourites Doug Stephenson on acoustic bass, Tony Ferraro on drums and Melody’s long-time friend and collaborator, pianist Dave Restivo, a recent score for the Kootenay music scene. Don’t miss Melody’s warm, beautiful voice and these amazing musicians as they delight audiences of all ages and tastes.
The afternoon show are for those jazz enthusiasts who want to enjoy shows during the day to avoid driving at night. Executive Director Nadine Tremblay explains, “Our evening jazz series is highly sought after and sells out quickly. So, after hearing from patrons that are not keen on driving at night anymore, we thought we would solve both challenges by adding an additional daytime show and sweetening the experience with a nice hot cup of tea.”
