Nelson residents will soon be able to visit the Nelson Innovation Center to learn about the city’s climate programs by visiting the Climate & Energy Lab. Over the coming months, the NiC will be partnering with the City’s Climate and Energy team responsible for implementing Nelson’s visionary Climate Plan, Nelson Next, who will administer the Lab. This team is focused on engaging the community to drive down emissions, mainly in the areas of transportation, buildings, and waste to better prepare Nelson for climate change.

The vision for the Climate & Energy Lab is to facilitate in-person and hands-on engagement with the city’s climate programs and create a space for increased collaboration and local innovation. Residents interested in learning more about the city’s climate programs, including the upcoming pre-treated organics diversion program, e-bike financing program, home energy retrofits program, and FireSmart, will have the opportunity to have their questions answered by city staff and volunteers in real-time! It’s expected that the Climate & Energy Lab will launch in the spring of 2022.

We invite you to take part in the City of Nelson’s many climate programs. Learn how at  www.nelson.ca/programs
