Volunteers are needed for Nelson’s 2020 Point-in-Time Homelessness Count & Housing Needs Survey. This important community initiative is happening during the day on Tuesday, April 21 in partnership with local agencies.

Volunteers are needed for four hour shifts between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm to join survey teams and help at the event headquarters. Training is provided.

The survey is part of a nationally coordinated effort through Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy, a program of the Government of Canada. Data will be gathered from people experiencing cyclical or chronic homelessness or who are lacking permanent, safe housing.

The Point-in-Time Count gathers critical information that provides a benchmark against which progress in reducing homelessness can be measured on a national level. This data shapes local, provincial and national responses to homelessness and housing insecurity.
