Kootenay Rockies Tourism has recently launched a strategic planning process in which the organization, led by its board of directors and CEO, will review the strategic direction for Kootenay Rockies Tourism and the role we play in the tourism ecosystem in the province and our region, as well as the opportunities for new ways to provide value to the tourism industry in our region.
Our industry continues to face great challenge and much uncertainty, and the team and the board believe now is a critical time to review KRT’s future direction and launch this important process in order to ensure that Kootenay Rockies Tourism remains relevant with clear goals, now and in the future.
On behalf of the KRT board of directors, we are pleased to invite you to participate in a tourism stakeholder engagement workshop on February 24, from noon to 1:30 pm.
We have engaged the services of Suzanne Denbak, with Cadence Strategies to facilitate these discussions and the planning process. Suzanne has worked with many of you over the last 15 years in community and regional tourism marketing and destination development planning throughout the Kootenay Rockies region.
The objective of this workshop is to listen to your perspectives on the challenges and opportunities our industry faces both in the near and longer-term and to dialogue together on the following questions:
1. What are the impacts, concerns and challenges for tourism businesses / stakeholders in the Kootenay Rockies region arising from COVID-19?
2. What are the immediate priorities and opportunities to support the Kootenay Rockies tourism industry as we move into recovery over the next 12-18 months.
3. What strategies and actions can be implemented to address these opportunities?
4. What programs / organizations are already in place and working to address these opportunities and what are the gaps?
5. What are the top opportunities for destination management in the following areas:
Destination development (access, infrastructure, visitor experience, business climate, etc.)
Marketing
Industry support / professional development
Advocacy
Research
Partnerships
6. Where will KRT’s expertise and resources be most effective?
