Shoe Bank Canada’s Annual Shoe Drive is underway again for the month of April.
If you see the ambulance heading for Nelson with its lights flashing, or hear the fire truck’s siren, do you wonder who they are assisting? Will it be you, someday?
The Kootenays are a beautiful and tranquil place to live, and they are also isolated and remote. We make our homes here for work, recreation and retirement and we want to feel safe and secure. We all know that when we need help the nearest medical services and trauma centre can be a very long distance away.
Our local emergency services are joining together for a public presentation. Speakers will include Kaslo Ambulance Service, Kaslo Search and Rescue, Kaslo Fire Department and First Responders, Emergency Social Services, KERPA and the RCMP. This will help you learn what to do if you find yourself in need of emergency support or home-based health services.
Please join us on Saturday, April 27, 10 am – 12 noon at the Kaslo Seniors’ Hall. Learn and prepare so you will know what to do to help a friend, a family member or yourself, if the worst were to happen.
Sponsored by CBT, RDCK and the Hospice Society of North Kootenay Lake, 250-353-2299.
