It was a very enthusiastic crowd at the Spirit Bar on Saturday, March 23 for the 7th Annual Kootenay Music Awards. This is the third year that Kootenay Co-op Radio has hosted the event that champions and honours our incredibly talented musicians in this area. The evening started off by paying tribute to Paul Hinrichs for all of the work he has done to bring acts to the area both with his work at the Spirit Bar and Kaslo Jazz Etc. Festival and his history as one of the founders of the Kootenay Music Awards.

This year the Kootenay Music Awards received over 172 submissions from all over the region. People’s choice voting, for Artist of the Year and Video of the Year, tallied 2500 votes!
