It hurts to lose a special person. There is no quick fix that will make the hurt go away. Sometimes we pretend it doesnt hurt. People tell us to get over it. We try. We may stuff the pain deep down inside. It works for awhile, sort of, until something brings it rushing back.
There is a better way. It is not hiding from the hurt nor pretending it doesnt exist, but rather embracing our hurt and moving through it to come back to wholeness. Its a journey that many have found becomes somewhat easier when traveled with others who have experienced loss. That is why there is GriefShare.
GriefShare is a 13 week support group for those who are grieving a recent or distant loss. Each weekly meeting includes a video presentation and a guided conversation. A workbook is available to help keep the things learned in mind. Attendance may begin on any week. The next 13 week session will meet Wednesdays at 7 pm beginning on September 22. It will be hosted by the Trail Alliance Church, 3365 Laburnum Drive and will be facilitated by Ken Siemens. All grievers are welcome. Questions? Call Ken at 250-231-1149 or visit www.griefshare.org
